Do I need to leave space between 2 glass balustrade profiles?

Yes, a gap for expansion must be left to allow for natural material movement caused by temperature and humidity changes. Failure to provide adequate expansion space may result in deformation or damage over time.

Please refer to the Gap Overview table below to determine the recommended spacing based on your installation requirements

Can TURBOFLEX be installed from just one side?

Yes. The entire installation process is carried out from the user's side. This eliminates the need for scaffolding or working over the edge of the balcony.

What glass thickness are compatible with TURBOFLEX?

TURBOFLEX is designed for glass thicknesses ranging from 16.76 mm to 21.52 mm, offering a high degree of flexibility for various glass railing applications.

How many tools are needed for the installation?

When installing with TURBOFLEX, a 6 Nm torque tool is primarily required to tighten the mounting screws. This ensures certified and consistently reliable installation results.

How long does it take to install a glass pane using TURBOFLEX?

With the TURBOFLEX system, a glass pane can be installed in about 3 minutes. This significantly reduces installation times and increases efficiency on the construction site.

How does TURBOFLEX differ from conventional glass railing systems?

Conventional systems often require adjustments to the floor profile as well as multiple correction steps. With TURBOFLEX, adjustments are made directly on the glass pane. The mounting system automatically adapts to the position of the glass, significantly reducing installation time, rework, and the complexity of the installation.

What are the main advantages of TURBOFLEX?

TURBOFLEX offers:

  • Quick and efficient installation
  • Precise Alignment of the Glass Panes
  • Installation from the user side
  • Reduced labor costs on the construction site
  • Compatible with glass thicknesses ranging from 16.76 mm to 21.52 mm
  • No readjustment is required after installation
  • Consistently high results—regardless of the installation team
  • Certified load capacity up to 1.0 kN
  • Fewer installation errors and greater planning reliability
  • Time and cost savings for projects of any size

What is the difference between TURBOFLEX and FLEXFIT?

FLEXFIT uses a wedge-based adjustment system, while TURBOFLEX does not use wedges and adapts directly to the glass. This makes installation faster and more precise, and significantly reduces the need for readjustments.

What is TURBOFLEX?

TURBOFLEX is ONLEVEL’s glass railing system, designed to make glass installation faster, easier, and more precise. Instead of forcing the installer to adapt the system to the glass, TURBOFLEX adapts directly to the glass itself at the point of contact.

Is it possible to create a balustrade with high glass panels?

Our TransLevel TL-4010 glass balustrade system has been subjected to static calculations for high glass panels up to 1.4 meters (fall-proof balustrade) and 2.5 meters (partition without fall risk). For high glass balustrades, it is strongly recommended to consider the applicable wind load.

What is the function of a glass balustrade?

A glass balustrade is an excellent choice for adding both safety and style to your balcony or rooftop terrace. It provides protection against the wind and ensures that you can enjoy the beautiful view without any obstructions. It is a modern and elegant solution for your outdoor space. As a general rule, a railing is required when the fall height is greater than or equal to 1 meter or when the slope is greater than 45 degrees.

Is it possible to create a balustrade with curved glass panels?

There are various TransLevel profiles in which curved glass can be mounted. It is also possible to bend handrails and Top-Cover profiles. Bending is possible with a minimum radius of 1 meter. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

What types of glass panels can be used for installing a glass balustrade?

The Flex Fit glass mounting system integrated into the TransLevel profiles allows for fixing glass thicknesses from 12.76 mm to 31.52 mm. The glass panels can be laminated with various types of films, such as PVB and PVB DG41. In the Netherlands, PVB film is the most common.

What glass thickness should be used in a glass balustrade?

The minimum glass thickness for a glass balustrade depends on the user function, mounting method, location, and height. For a full glass balustrade, a minimum glass thickness of 16.76 mm is recommended to ensure effective fall protection. For situations on a concrete edge, thus with reduced glass height, glass of 12.76 mm can be used. When using a system with aluminum balusters, glass of 10.76 mm is sufficient. Different types of glass can be used. In the Netherlands, toughened laminated glass is most commonly used. The most common glass thicknesses are 88/4 and 1010/4.

Do we need to maintain aluminum surfaces?

Absolutely, maintaining aluminum is essential to ensure durability and preserve the warranty of the glass balustrade. Regularly cleaning the aluminum with a soft cloth and cleaner can prevent the buildup of dirt and corrosion.

Is it possible to install a glass balustrade along a staircase?

Absolutely. Our TransLevel glass balustrade systems are designed to be applied to staircases with an angle of up to 40° relative to the horizontal.

What types of coverings are possible?

ONLEVEL offers a wide range of cover caps compatible with the TransLevel profile range. The 'Top Cover' caps ensure a consistent aesthetic in a project by offering options suitable for different types of cladding, such as decking strips, custom plates, wood cladding, stone, etc. They are designed to fit various cladding thicknesses, ranging from 3 mm to 120 mm, and are available in vertical and horizontal versions.

Are assembly instructions available?

You can find assembly instructions for each product on our portal.

What glass thickness and type should we use in the Netherlands?

According to NEN/EN 1991-1-1, there are three types of line loads categorized into five user classes:

Private application (0.5KN; category A and B): Toughened laminated 8/8/4 (17.52 mm)
Public application (0.8KN; category C1-C4 and D): Toughened laminated 8/8/4 (17.52 mm) or 10/10/4 (21.52 mm) depending on the building height, wind load area, and balustrade height.
Public application (3.0KN; category C5): Toughened laminated 12/12/4 (25.52 mm) or 15/15/4 (31.52 mm) depending on the application, substrate, and balustrade height.

User Classes:
A: Spaces for living and domestic use
B: Office spaces
C1: Spaces equipped with tables (e.g., schools, cafés, reception areas)
C2: Spaces with fixed seating (e.g., theaters, meeting rooms)
C3: Spaces that do not obstruct the movement of people (e.g., exhibition halls, stations, hotels)
C4: Spaces where physical activities are possible (e.g., gymnasiums, stages)
C5: Spaces with large crowds (e.g., concert halls, sports halls, stands, platforms, etc.)
D: Shops

How much does a glass balustrade cost?

The price of a glass balustrade depends on several factors, such as the profile to be used, the type of glass, the anchoring, the scope of the project, and the complexity of the installation. The geographical location of the project can also play a role. As a rough estimate, the cost of glass balustrades will range between approximately 250 and 1250 euros per linear meter.

Are glass balustrades safe?

Absolutely! Glass balustrades are completely safe and can be used in most projects. There are systems suitable for residential situations and others that are more suitable for commercial environments such as shopping centers, stadiums, and office buildings.
To ensure the proper functioning of balustrades, each country has specific rules and standards in place. In France, the TransLevel balustrade systems are tested through:

* Experimental tests:
- By applying static loads
- By applying dynamic loads
- Or both

* Calculations

What are the delivery options and how are the shipping costs calculated?

The exact delivery times and shipping options (parcel service or freight carrier) vary depending on the delivery destination, as well as the length, weight, and shape of the packaged order. Long items, such as TransLevel profiles, 5-meter handrails, or tubes, are exclusively shipped via a freight carrier. For smaller orders, we use a parcel delivery service like UPS. Shipping costs are calculated based on the specified delivery address.
